Someone said something to me that got me thinking.
I realize that I pretty much live in a 5 mile world. And not as the crow flies, but driving; and traffic is a non issue..
Work, grocery, hospital, dentist, retail stores, big box stores, good restaurants and bars, movie theaters, gyms, landscape material yards, transfer station, auto stores, auto repair, sporting goods, archery shop, fishing tackle; pretty much every convenience one could need is within 5 miles of driving, and all of it is north/north east.
What's funny about it all is that my property backs up to a forest.
The closest fishing is 7 miles away (Chili Bar) and yea, I have a haul to the ocean, but all in all it's not a bad gig.
So the question is; how big is your world?

This area is where I work in my job. All those stars you see are parts houses I use frequently for job supplies.

Obviously doesn't include the fact that I spend 50 days a year in Santa Cruz to Carmel area.
Thresher in avatar and Soupfin Shark in signature both caught and pic taken by me.

My world is a big as my circle of friends,

Sometimes it's a 10' circle when its just me and the wife spending quality time;

or can be limitless, when I'm chilling with my homies.....

basically, friends and family are my world.....

(and you my brother, make my world 200miles; being so far away...)

Thousands of friends online,2 in the real world not counting my family
My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

Absolutely true, nothing to add, Limitless world...
my new name should be Ostridge. Got my head in the sand. Going fishing and letting go of the other stuff I can't control anyway!

Well, I would say mine is pretty big since I have driven close to 1.5 million miles since 1990 when I moved to Nor Cal.

Interesting post

My world is very small. I have lived on 3 continents, but I always seem to run into the same people.

Some of my friends from Auburn took a trip to Scotland a few years ago. They struck up a conversation with a waitress in Edinburgh and discovered that she was one of my Hungarian ex-girlfriends. This kinda stuff seems to happen all the time to me.

Is that too emo for you, Tote?  :smt003

Pretty much the same as Rbark.  Work takes me to San Ramon, Cupertino, San Rafael and points between, mostly.

If I was retired I could easily find everything I need within a 5 mile radius, except the ocean.

I've told people I can completely build and furnish and house and live there(buy groceries and such), eat out and at least a dozen different places plus go to a 25 screen movie theater and even go indoor sky diving...and be more that 2 miles from home! The closest fishing spot is within 5 miles(Quarry Lakes).

I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

Jeeezus I don't even want to know how big mine is.
Ft Bragg to the Penninsula. I average 700 a week for most of the year.
Part of me wishes I didn't have to drive so much, but the thought of being stuck at the same place everyday kinda freaks me out even more.

What time frame?  In a typical weekday I don't leave town. On a typical Friday-Sunday I regularly range as far as Garberville, Brookings, Medford and Yreka. One box is really small, the other is the size of several New England states.

My work is a mile away from the house. I can go home just to answer the phone. Luckys is 300 yards. The Petaluma river where I can launch is a quarter mile roll. China camp is thirty minutes on a good day. Tomales 20. Bodega bay 25. The fort 60..  But most of the time during the week it's all within one mile from home. Stores work gas restaurants I'm lucky as hell. And I have transients on the tracks behind my house which keeps me totally entertained during the summer. I like your backyard mike. I wish I had that. Acorns? Not so much hehehe

My world is as big or small as my mind allows. That being said, it's pretty wide open now.
