Cooking doesn't remove Domoic acid

The domoic acid concentrates in the viscera.  Removing the back and cleaning before cooking is the important part.

HMB- 16ppm to 130ppm, 12 crab tested-83% above the 30ppm threshold. Average of 12 crab 56ppm.  CC- highest was 140ppm, 1/2 of the crab tested were above the 30ppm  threshold.  Meeting tomorrow to get some more results back, and talk about sport delay

Debacking those crabs before cooking if it opens this Saturday.
well those numbers certainly don't look very good on the surface.  Probably not worth the risk for me with little kids at home unless the numbers improve significantly.

Well, poop.  If the numbers were close to the threshold, I would have been ok to just take the risk, but with my luck, I'll end up trying to eat one of those 140ppm bastards and end up puking all weekend.

Doesnt look promising...... With cooler water just setting in, may take a little time before the crabs can flush it out of there system....

Isn't that exactly what they need...high winds driving colder water, to flush out the warm water that's causing the bloom?
