well, didn't have much time as i had a TON of honey-do's.  Managed two hours at Stinson. Nice holes now.  Got one decent one, and 8 little dinks.  Tried some new stuff today-- berkeley gulp blood worms and sand fleas. blood worms worked, sand fleas as well- though their shape tends to mean they end up spinning on the end of the line when retreiving- best to use a really good swivel (or end up changing mono until you figure it out like me).

the guy I met at salinas river state beach was using gulp bloodworms too, 1/3 of a worm...

a couple weeks back I met some guys up towards zmudowski who said that grubs were failing them
and they had to go to real bloodworms...

I was a victim of the spinning when trying to use 1" GULP crabs...  not to mention they required more
weight to stay on the bottom in any current.

recently I got a free gift of 3" GULP minnows which look promising for a variety of things.

I got some of those 3" minows as well, they look a bit big for perchin to me but I guess you never know until you chunk them out there.

bill, I saw the biggest BSP I've ever seen in my life last may, it was caught on a 3" kalin MORF.

at zmudowski.

so those things should do alright.

The Kalins are skinnier than these though. I guess we will find out soon, I might hit Marina SB this weekend for the MFF.

the 3" kalins are pretty fat, at least mine are. could be wrong, but I think they are comparable.

I have not caught a thing on a larger grub, I'm sticking with the small grubs myself.
my 70 year old barber caught a 12lb striper @ sunset state beach last summer on a 1.5" grub.

I guess if you get into a hot bite on dinks with the small grub, that would be the time to pull out
the big grub?

marina is a bit rougher than the stretch of beach south of the moss landing harbour. but bill,
who are you kidding, you are going to sleep in!  :smt005  :smt005  :smt005

The surf has been relentlessly good, I am just about surfed out, would be nice to catch a fish.
well, when the surf gets crappy, I will be ready to do some perchin' and some trout trollin'.

adam, you seem to be having plenty of fun with the bass! can't do everything! The perching is fun tho when you wade right
in wearing a wetsuit and prepared to swim. I have hooked one while floating before,  :smt005. now that is surf fishing! a little hard on the reels of course...

I've tossed grubbs while wadding in wadders at SC and Mussel Rock(pacifica) but never got the big ones. The regulars had some though!
swimmin for perch is a little to crazy for this NUT!
Snow on Skyline? it must be a little cold over there.

Whats the swell forcast for the weekend? the wind is forcasted off-shore w/highpressure.  fish one day, waves one day.   :smt004

it is small but surfable through the weekend I think. In the last week I surfed ocean beach SF and moss landing beach break.

light east wind means those west facing beach breaks are the bomb right now.

I have waded in waist deep then cast parallel to shore for perch, you cover more water that way, you can cast down wind a long ways. but what happens is that a big wave or two come in and your waist deep water gets neck deep so you have to jump once in awhile,  :smt005 hey if you body board it is no different. put on your pfd if you want to float better!

I think we are peripherally talking about surf perch, we haven't totally hijacked this thread yet!
