Four of  us made it to Muir but found no salmon.  Gabe mooched up a nice 34" (about 20#) striped salmon, I mean bass.  We were is 60' of water straight off the beach and his anchovie was 32 feet down.  The fish lived to fight another day.

That trophy striper will teach Gabe to bring his own camera.  I sure wish I could have got there fast enough to snap a photo.   Seeing is believing!

When Joel and I arrived at Muir Beach around 6:00am, there wasn't a single boat on the water, but by the time we launch it looked like an invasion of private and charter boats from everywhere.  Based on radio talk, the salmon bite was off.  We sure proved it, and to make matters worse, a stiff north west wind suddenly kicked up while the outgoing tide start really moving out.  It made for whitecaps and a scary paddle back to the beach.

I'm now 0 for 3 on salmon :smt012 .  What a difference a day or two will make on a hot bite.  As Stu says.... "you gotta strike will the iron's hot"

Nevertheless... it was nice day OTW :smt003

It was nice meeting Gabe and Jonathan finally - Thanks to Jonathan for sharing his bait with me. Chuck on the other hand was charging me $40.00 for a bait tray  :smt003

Gabe - congrats on you big striper catch with you new reel - way to go  :smt023

It was a good day despite lack of salmon on the stringers.

Gabe has had the hot hand the last couple of weekends.  A nice 28" Ling and now a big striper.  Nice job.

It was nice meeting you too, Joel.  It's alway nice to get out even if the fish don't cooperate.

I guess it's good I don't own a wetsuit.  I don't mind conditions like that and would happily stay out if the fish were biting.

Oh well, guess we will get them next time or the time after that or....

My wife gave me a little lecture about not bringing that fish home for the fry pan,  :smt013 but she is happy for me that "I found my tribe"   :smt008 . Nice meeting you too Joel, and I'm ready to hit that lake for trout/small mouths. I learned my lesson about the camera. I would have held that fish longer but was starting to feel like  I was going to get mugged by a sea lion or something bigger.

That's quite understandable, especially around Muir and near Stinson.
