Man, i'm not sure what these are called, but it looked like the size of my palm until I squashed it.  All legs really, but still big.  They move quick too!  Second one I've had to take out in the last week or so.  And normally I like to relocate spiders, or just leave them be.  Not these guys...

If that was the size of your hand, it is a Huntsman Spider, AKA Cane Spider. Pretty common on the Big Island Hawaii and in parts of the Caribean. Not deadly poisonous, but you will wish it hadn't bit you. I never heard of on in California, except maybe on freshly imported bananas, but those get checked for such hitchhikers.
Warning! Retiree; Knows it all and has plenty of time to tell you about it.

Yeah they're pretty laid back until a little cricket walks by, then lightening quick.

Thank you Duckman!
I grew up in Puerto Rico.. could swear we had these huge spideys... began to doubt myself when no one else had heard of them.  Big as your hand and lightening quick...Now I have a name for them. Hunstman Spiders....
Thank you!
