Went to OPS today just to send in three of my defunct revo toros for maintenance and servicing....ended up bringing home a shimano teramar ex70mh spinning rod for this trip. Of course now I need to fit it with a nice little spinning reel that can handle fat goats and yts!

Perhaps a Cabo pt40....

hah I have them both on my wish list ...

I decided against the pt40.

I got the 50 instead.  :smt002

I started kayak fishing to get away from most of you...

We're getting close. Anybody have any questions on gear, etc?

Your rf/ling/halibut gear you use up here will work fine down there.

I'll mostly be fly-lining live bait and sending one down on a dropper loop looking for halibut, WSB, and YT. If that's not panning out I'll either be hitting the potholes in the kelp for sheeps, or fishing for calicoes/whitefish, depending on which part of the island we're at.

And I'd guess 80% of those fish were caught on one day! (day 3).

For real! The first two days of that trip were pretty damn slow. On day three we got to fish the windward side of the island and we straight up killed it.
