Hey all,

So my dad is coming to visit and thought we'd try our luck fishing the banks of the Sac river near Redding (past Deschutes bridge to maintain legal of course).  I've never fished it for salmon, seems almost everyone uses a boat.  Is it possible to shore fish on the Sac with decent success?  Any thoughts/ideas would be appreciated!

Anything is possible.  :smt001
The Sac has good shore fishing opportunities, for trout.  Salmon are going to hold in the deeper holes so it's a tough go from the bank.  The most popular shore salmon spot is the gravel bar off Jelly's Ferry Road, but it's 99% flossing and super crowded....not my style but lots of fish get pulled from there when the runs are coming through.

Spend the three hour round trip to head over the hill to the trinity; you'll be glad you did.

Thanks for the replies.  Not a huge fan of combat fishing so we'll see what happens.  I've been to the Trinity salmon fishing once, but up further at Burnt Ranch.  Not familiar with the closer locations.   We'll pull a game plan together and have some fun at the least.  Thanks for all the replies!

The rainbows are on the chew in town if you want to stay local and just hop spots along the river.  Quick lunchbreak session today:
