The t-shirts were great as well as the whole roasted pig Spike served on Saturday afternoon.  The water was big and the wind was stiff.

Here's my take on it...
It's no secret that I won it last year, yes I got a RTM Abaco  420 (13'9"),  and set it up the way I liked and am very grateful.
It is a lot more of a fishing kayak than my X-factor.
Faster,  lower , wetter. Better! ???  it works for me.
anyway, I guess I was one of the dummy's with balls of steel ...
I was about 5th out and was thinking if was  too bad once out there  we'd go back in , but
We went north and in 35 min were at Gerstle south.
Fished that area with luck on Blues but no Lings.
Jimmy saw a boiler rock north toward Salt point, and wanted to explore so he ventured over and I stayed in the middle of the cove and rerigged.
I should have followed cause later I heard"picked up a 28"er."
Vic, Jimmy and myself are  pretty confident in our kayaking
and knew it was going to be a rodeo but entrance and landing all went well.
Once out there it wasn't  so scary,  doable. Coming in we had to  really watch the swells and pick the right set and it worked.
I've  had my share of wipeouts before, thats for sure, but that's how I learn!
Got a shirt, had 2 awesome meals, pig in the box was amazing! :smt007
Raffle was a bit weak, but met a bunch of great peeps, and Had a good time!
The fishing was hard cause  of the wind and the drift, heavy weights were needed.
Sunday was entertaining to watch, HUGE waves!

Here's where it  gets weird for me...

Seems when the word "spike" is out there, some people start breathing heavy!
Now I've  been on this forum for 2 years and have met probably 15-20 people out and about and all is well  :smt001
Same with Spike, all is good with us,
But I sense a great amount of animosity  toward the dude.
I felt it last year and again this year with the thread of the fall classic .
I guess he must have really f#@ked over some folks?, heard about the shirts.
Whatever??,  not my deal,  it must have went down before my time here.
I just wonder What the F**k happened????
It's like I came into the middle of a play and don't know what's up?
I'm not into gossip or talkin shit about people but something's "funny"

Oh well, here a couple pics of big blue, the last one was sun.

Thanks for the reports, Sandshred and SMB!

Spike is my dude and I don't have any problems with him. Some people are just bitter they never got a t-shirt from 2 years ago, others have been burned on shark shield transactions, and others are mad because Spike burned their friend somehow and they're 10x more upset about it than their friends who supposedly got burned.

But most have probably just read things about him here and are jumping on the It's Not Cool To Like Spike bandwagon.

I think the bottom line is that Spike is an OK dude, but not the greatest business man.

Great report Scotty...You big dummy. :smt044 It was good to see you last weekend. I was rooting for you to repeat when I saw you go out. Fishing is not easy in that kind of weather. I enjoyed the company around camp last weekend also. Very nice vibe with that group. The pig looked awesome. I didn't pay the registration fee, so I split when the food came out. Spike looked like he did it up right.

As far as the weirdness about Spike, I think Dustin put it well.

But most have probably just read things about him here and are jumping on the It's Not Cool To Like Spike bandwagon.

Spike is my friend and has never been anything but generous and kind to me. I can understand being upset if you had been burned by Spike somehow, but he has never burned me. He is not associated with NCKA any longer, and that doesn't seem to matter to him.
Oh, and I did get my shirt that year. If anyone is still completely torqued about not receiving theirs, I will give you mine. It's a long sleeve Large I think.  :smt004

Hey Hojo,
Thanks for the history lesson...
Wow
Seems that time period was tough for Spike with his Mom and stuff.  I know that with the aging and passing of our parents , things can get sideways, it did for me when my pops passed in that same time period.
At this point, I guess it is what it  is
and hopefully history won 't repeat itself.
Spike is still OK in my book.

Well said Dustin. The last time we all fished together at the Ft. it was a hoot. Spike wouldn't eat one of my doughnuts though. hehehehe Theres that Krazy Kook right behind Ben. We had fun eating up top as I remember. Nice pics Scotty!!!!! I saw Jimmy at the shop Monday doing a supplement for State Farm.

He is not associated with NCKA any longer, and that doesn't seem to matter to him.

Just to be clear for the newbies who don't have the history.  Spike was never "associated" with NCKA.  I know Chad didn't mean it that way, but just wanted to make sure there was no misundertanding.  Spike, by his choice, no longer participates here, although he was logged on as recently at Oct 7.  He was asked not to post anything that involved any financial transaction here, due to a number of incidents that went south.

It’s been said time and time again: friends and money don’t mix. Spike is a friend of mine, and I enjoy hanging out on the rare occasions that I have that opportunity to do so.  He is also a very kind person and has many good stories to share. I wish I could have gone just to hang out if nothing else.

I am glad that Spike is playing nice nowadays. I assure you all that my dislike for Spike is 100% justified and goes way beyond any t-shirts or bandwagons.
