You don't NEED a fishfinder ...

I do. For me, my FF is like Wilson, the volleyball in Cast Away. I talk to it and, I swear, sometimes it talks to me...

I fish there many times and caught fish every time without using a FF.  Sure, it doesn't hurt to have one but you don't NEED one to catch fish there.

Hello All,

I am still wanting to hit the water on saturday.  Some people have expressed interest.  Anyone want to join me?  I just got the last few items for my maiden voyage!

The weather looks to be a little bit bumpy but it sounds like the cove offers protection.

Hope some of you can join!

SWS has some fishing restricted areas, make sure you know where it is so you don't end up with a fat ticket!

The wife put a stop to me going on Sunday because that is the day we check out of the hotel.  I am locked in for Saturday.  Anyone available to go fishing?

I'm down for a half day but would prefer not to launch out of Stillwater because of the extra $10 when we can just launch at Carmel beach. I've got to help my lady's brother move in to their new place in Monterey around 11:30/12. It'll be an early start and early finish for me. Was thinking I could leave Santa Cruz around 5:30 and be to the launch around 6:45/7? The extra 10 isn't a make it or break it either.

Also, have you practiced any self rescuing yet? If not, put that yak in the hotel pool and get wet!!!

I have practiced I took the yak to Modesto reservoir for a half an hour of play. I can't make it up to Santa cruz. I am doing a half day as well and have to be in Carmel for lunch. if you don't have the funds I can refund your pass. It is worth a fishing partner for the day. I am a newbie  and would not mind someone with experience joining me. I am planning on being there at 6:30 and launching near 7

Good prep work. And no need to come to Santa Cruz, Carmel beach is literally the next cove south from Stillwater. I've launched from the southern point of the beach by the stairs. I've never launched out of Stillwater because the additional 10 never seemed worth it. However, I'm in the same situation and don't have a buddy to charge with so if you really want to go SW we can do that. I do appreciate you offering to cover the cost though! It seems we may have another comrade on board?

Have you looked at the swell report??

Carmel beach will be a tough launch...go for it though and make sure to take pics/video!

This was a decent swell day at carmel beach a few years ago.

Fun for sure but south end was WAY nastier....worth the $10 on big days to launch at Sws rather than carmel IMO.

I was thinking to myself, maybe I should try Carmel beach sometime.

NOPE.

Gotta get in better shape for that!

Thanks for saving me from certain doom once again with your videos, Jim.  :smt005
