They are catching WSB near elephant rock (Tomales Point). The Miss Anita caught 5 yesterday, plus a few halibut and a 20 lb salmon for 5 or 6 lucky guests. One lucky dude on a private boat nailed a 68 lb WSB.

The squid are spawning and NOW is the time.

Good luck.

That is either a LONG way to paddle, or a death march on Mcclures Beach Trail. :smt009

That's why I said "adventurous".

If I had a PB I'd be on that in a second.

Here's a tease from Coastside (hope that's OK)...

I've actually never targeted WSB. I don't even know what I'd do with that much meat. Definitely wouldn't fit in my freezer that's for sure.

Tempting for sure... Always wanted to launch off mc lures some day.

Can't speak for everyone but the Miss Anita has been using barbless circles for their potluck squid trips for a while. He mentions it in most of his posts.

Some really nice halibut coming out of there too.

Hmmmm.

The report from Miss Anita said they were using fresh squid on 5/0 single barbless circle hooks with 5 foot leaders and sliding sinkers. Who knows what the private boater was using.

I was down by Elephant rock on my Panga and saw all the action.  I had one take down that lasted 4 seconds.  Found some squid though.  Managed to drag some onboard with the salmon net.

Nice work on the squidlies, Batt!

Do you have a pic of your panga by any chance? I'm intrigued... I'm (somewhat) in the market for a lightweight simple yet seaworthy craft. 19-21 foot Bayrunners are looking good, as are 17-19 foot whalers.

Just a heads up - most who target them, don't post much about them or will do so in the private section. The bodega bite is harder to get to but the other usual spots are not and you don't want a bunch of PBs motoring around and affecting the bite.

hahah You wont be launching at Mc Clures bro. Or Abbots for that matter. Unless you want your ass handed to you.
