Hi everyone-

First report from me so here goes:

Saturday, 3 of us launched at Clarksburg and drifted south through Hood from about 6:30am and getting back around 12:15pm.  We jigged the deeper holes (30-50ft) and caught lots of small stripers and smallmouth.  My buddy with a FF marked lots of fish but they were suspended off the bottom and not hitting jigs.  We did see people getting them on shore with spinners.  We also saw what I believe were a couple of sturgeon jump.  I know it's early, but I saw what I saw and I'm 90% sure they were sturgeon.

I went back out on Sunday and fished off of shore.  Got a jack on a Flying C within 45 minutes.  For some reason or another I think maybe the fish will hit but with the funky weather and water temps jigging may not be productive for a few more weeks.  I may try and drop in at the Freeport bridge this week after work if time permits.  Tight lines!

kool report..the salmon are there..problem is, with 68+ water temps its hard to get them to bite. early mornings are your best bet. +1 on the sturgy sighting...hood is a honey hole and staging area for them diamond backs. probably following the salmon up looking for fresh roe.

Ill wait till i hear more solid reports and when the water hits 64 before i get out there

Did good man. For a few hours of fishing I hooked up but lost it. My first lost fish on a jig ever. And my buddy hooked up and landed it which was his first salmon ever! Super stoked for him it was a 22lb hen. Saw about 5 or 6 other caught too. The water is warm for them, but bounce a jig in there face and they WILL nail it regardless. Il post a report too I guess.

After watching the reports and hearing what everyone has to say it seems like the fish are holding higher in the water column and moving quickly.  I'll probably give it another go this weekend.  I'd like to drop in at Garcia or Freeport this time.  We'll see.  Really depends on whether or not the GF lets me go and for how long  :smt011.  Weld where do you launch?  I like Minnow Hole but I have no idea where I'd go to get in there or where I'd get out.

Was debating on jigging or hitting the port FRIDAY.  Probaly going to jig Saturday and do port FRIDAY. Tides look better

Yea. We're going to shuttle.  Its about 10 miles and change.  Should be about a 6-7 hour drift (I'm guessing)

I think we're actually going to cut the trip short a little bit and either do Garcia to Freeport or Freeport to Clarksburg.  I can't risk angering the gatekeeper (gf) by coming home too late lol.  Either way, I got a good feeling for this weekend.  Everything looks solid.  I'll take a look at the tides later today.
