As someone whose been afflicted by tinnitus since I was 15/16, I feel your pain.  I've seen specialists, had acupuncture, months of adjustments from chiropractors, etc, all in an effort to relive my tinnitus with zero success.  It's quite persistent and for me is only unnoticeable when I'm in a noisy area or listening to music, it's constant.  Then I found this https://np.reddit.com/r/WTF/comments/3l3uri/these_guys_lighting_a_mortar_shell_in_their_garage/cv3474n rolling around the front page one day on Reddit.  Yes, it sounds absolutely ridiculous, but after doing it a dozen or so times, my tinnitus seems like it has temporarily subsided and isn't as loud.  Key word there is temporary, the relief lasts hours at best.  Could vary from person to person but, to some extent, it worked for me.  Hope this helps.

This is absolutely amazing and seconds of silence are absolutely glorious.  I've been doing it every few minutes and it works every time, if only for a few seconds.

Thank you so much.

I'm glad it's working, I'll be at Sante Adairius Rustic Ales or Lupulo if y'all are feeling like buying  :beer2!  It may not be a cure, but every second without ringing is blissful.  So glad that my mindless browsing and surfing of the internet could help!

My understanding of surgery for tinnitus is that, for most cases, the damage is irreversible and any surgery would require user to wear hearing aid for life.  While the ringing is annoying, its not so detrimental to my living that I'd be ok with wearing a hearing aid.  Not that they are bad, but at 28, I don't want to explain to people that I'm wearing a hearing aid because my ears were ringing.

Y'all dont go and bruise up the back of you're heads doing this!   :smt044 :smt044 :smt044

Diet is a factor for me---just a few things that I need to avoid. So, that might be an angle to consider...

One thing that helps me is to wear earplugs/ muffs any time I'm in an area where I know there'll be any noise that bugs me. I have a pair of shooting-range earmuffs hanging from my vacuum cleaner, for instance.  I also carry earplugs in the car (not while driving) in case I end up going to a concert or movie, or even into a loud bar/ restaurant. If I go pier fishing and the wind's up, I'll wear them.  Any time I'm on a plane, I've got 'em in.

Seems the less exposure I have to loud noise during the day, the less the ringing in my ears is at night.
