Does anyone in here use 24hourfitness clubs? I bought my prepaid membership about 10 years ago. my contract at the time when I joined says I paid $600 up front for 3 years and after 3 years I paid just $49 annually. so all of a sudden I got my annual bill that say's $99. from $49 to $99. that is 100% increase. the bill was accompany by a short note. it said something they are helping their customer blah blah blah. i did not get any letter saying my rate would increase prior to my bill. apparently i'm finding out more and more people are getting screw as well. here is part of the contract that says right to increase dues but the CPI in this region isn't 100%. should be like 2-3 %. i'm sure not many people will take this lying down.

Same thing happened to my son. I think his went from $49 to $69. Might be $99.

My renewal is in November. I'm sure it will go up also.

For any of you OGs out there.  I have a Medicare Advantage Plan through Blue Shield and it includes a membership to many different health clubs, including 24 Hour Fitness.  I pay no premiums except the medicare Part B and Silver Sneakers, which is the health club benefit is included, free.  I attend 24 Hour Fitness 5 days a week and have all services available to me with the same benefits as any paying member.

That's disturbing since I didn't realize that it could increase. I'm currently paying 20/yr with access to Super sports. Time to research this -- if they can increase it once, eventually it'll be close enough to the "normal' rate per year.

Thanks for link. I know $99 is still very cheap. It's the principle. i will be keeping a close eye on this. I'm sure more and more will arise.

doood, i'm paying over three bills per month for our gym membership!! so yes, 99/yr is like dirt cheap.  you do get what you pay for tho.  not saying lay down in face of shady biz practices like bait and switch.  b/c nickel and diming on a mass scale = beacoup dinero, and no biz should get away with unlawful schemes, no matter how small value of the individ transgression.  my bro is w 24, never liked how they kepp changing his privileges with each new go live of club privileges, and upped his member fee.  you seem to get increasingly less access yet hve to pay more

Which gym and for yourself only? Costco has the pre-paid memberships that average <30 for 24hr super sport access if you're interested. Although the new SS aren't really that anymore and just a new club w/free towel service.

I love my lifetime membership and know that I'll always have a place to shower if I ever spend 24/7 in my car.

Not sure if that's a stock photo but an outdoor pool? Pretty awesome and I bet their chlorine > 24hour-chlorine. Sounds like a good deal for the family.

two outdoor adult pools, each pretty nice/clean, plus the kiddie wading pool.  Topped off with plenty cougar/MILF clientele fond of nip tux.  unfortunately, both "lap" pools is but 25 yds.  that's 70 stinking flip turns to swim a mile ugh.  so on top of my courtside membership, during "season", sometimes end up driving down to morgan hill and paying $10 just to swim 50m long course pool for distance workouts.  mega ugh!!

That craziness illustrates the comparative value of 24hr fitness.  I spent more on entry fees at morgan hill aquatic center for several long course swims this summer than an entire year of 24 dues!  But again, 24 is a discount biz that relies on volume, so they pack em in tighter than a bullfrogs ass during peak time.  At MHAC, I get an entire lane to myself, and if someone jumps in, they aint stay long.

aaaaand just to continue the threadjack, you can crash at my place anytime Hai!  Always got room for a VN brotha, no need to sleep in a car like a hobo  :smt005

Pompano, last threadjack...

CaptainSaveaHo, you remind me of my former co-worker who goes to the gym to swim and I'd bet he'd sign up just to check out the clientele. Good reminder to checkout the pool instead of just lifting all of the time. I ain't gonna crash at your place, but will pick you up to get bottle service at N*u Long.  :smt045

So someone posted a comment on 24hourfitness Facebook page mentioning lawsuit. she asked to pm here for info as she is in Colorado. I hope something will come up here in CA. So today as I was in the gym a lot of the machines was replaced with newer machines but does exactly the same as the old ones. Also, my friend that signed up almost the same time as me got his annual statement and his rate did not increased. it's inconsistent. some increase by a little, some increase by a lot and some no increase? wth is going on with 24fitness? really unethical business practice.

wow, those comments on consumeraffairs.com speak to a massive scheme of bait and switch.  If it ever does pan out, some plaintiffs counsel is going to make a mint off them.

On the other hand, my gym is offering its members time with a teeth whitening consultant next week :smt011  So, you see, we're both thinking WTH re our respective gyms
