Fiberglass.  Use the yak as the mold.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Everything that guy says about the mirage classic is true. I go about 210 and the water is pretty close.. but then in cost is less, weight is less, this particular one is rigged for outriggers and a sail. Appreciate the photos of a milcrate strapped above the well, and the suggestion of fiberglass... I'm surprised more people don't still have these, but we'll just have to see.

For my PVC rod holders I cut the top off at a 45 degree angle instead of doing notches.  The reel naturally rotates when slotted in the tube and settles at the lower point.  Then mount them facing out, in, or whatever.

not the best pic --but recent so I could find it at least

mine has tubes in the backside angled back for rods I wont use early in the day or anymore that day...and a really big net stays out of the way for the most part

the 2 pvc tubes right behind my seat and in the front of my crate lean back just bit and I add a simple piece of 3/4" x 5 1/2" redwood scrap , fastened to the pvc rod holders, and some foam is added..makes for a great back rest all day...Now I'm spoiled---I took one of my kayaks out without the back rest- stripped down dive kayak was the idea- and it sucked bad...now all my crates have the back rest added

We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be.

I want to stay as close to the edge as I can without going over. Out on the edge you see all kinds of things you can't see from the center.

Mine is one of the longer crates so I made 6 holders for rods/nets/gaf. I cut "V" in the holders so the reels fit nicely.
