So I get a call from Crash that he's coming up to the R Ranch for the weekend. He wants to get some bugs for a BBQ. We head out at first light on Sunday to a spot on the Klamath above Copco Lake. I had done well here last time so why not? Crash had a fresh ocean salmon carcass and I had some two year old freezer salmon and hotdogs for bait. We load the traps and set them with our respective baits. After only an hour, I decide to check my trap to see if there's any action. I had only 1 in mine. Crash pulls his in and he's got like 24. WTH? Traps were only ten feet apart. His small trap was stuffed and crawling! Looked like a Deadliest Catch scene.  We unload them and he gives me half his carcass to see if that helps. Well after another two hrs I check again and wow, my trap has a buttload and his is loaded again. Just goes to show, even crawfish prefer ocean salmon over frozen river salmon. That stuff was like a magnet. Ended up with around 65 bugs for three hrs soaking. That place is loaded with crawfish. Always fun to be a kid again. Hats off to Crash and family and friends. The BBQ was off the hook with Crash's jumbalyia, albacore, and fresh salmon. Desert was grilled peaches ( gotta try this) and s'mores. That's not all as Crash whoops out a box of fine cigars to top it all off. Damn! Ate and felt like a King. Way to go Crash, you sure know how to put on a good time. Made Dawn and mines weekend. Till next time.

Little trivia. Met a woman the other night that works at Tahoe Research Lab. There are 300 million, yes 300 million, crawfish in Lake Tahoe. Surprised me.
