Hey Guys and Gals,

I am in the process of developing a few classes for the business and would like to get your input.

First and foremost my business "PacificNalu Spearfishing" is a Freedive and Spearfishing business. We do have crossover products that relate to kayak fishing too.

We do alot of kayak diving and shore dives throughout the california coast and I feel classes that help you to manage your gear in both areas would be a great offering to the dive and fishing community.

What do you think about these classes:

Kayak diving 101? and Shore dive 101?

The classes would be designed for safety and gear management. The actual use of a speargun and or shooting fish will be up the the participant depending on their comfort on/in the water.

Please chime in as I appreciate your knowledge and experience in the water as a community.

Thank You,

Joe

Great idea Joe!  The number of free divers is growing every day.  Both shore diving and kayak diving are different, but equally important. Taking a class when you are first starting out will put you way ahead of just learning everything as you go. More importantly, it will keep you safer; learning things the right way the first time!!!

Great idea, and I really think it should also be promoted outside of NCKA and NCUH, like a local newspaper and craigslist.  Then people say, "kayak diving???? WTF????  Honey, cancel that brunch with your parents this Saturday!  We're busy!"

Onsight demostarations would be great. Meet up at lovers point on the concrete slab and dive the crystal clear water.. Great spot for newbies! Leave the guns at home though.

Sounds awesome Joe!  Lots of folks may be waiting for just such an opportunity to get their feet wet, so to speak.   :smt003

PG is a great place for this I think!! Shore dive spots, kayak dive spots from both sandy and mixed rock/sand areas, free parking, chance to look for fish at varied depths etc  :smt004

Best of luck dude!!

Yes!

That is a great idea.

Can dive with a small weight on a floatline and mark some fishies in holes for them to check out as well?

I'd think something focused on diving in thick kelp might be wise for this area. Some folks get super spooked by the forest stuff.
I remember my first kelp dive I got all wrapped up and was certainly pushing my limits to get free.

I think it's a brilliant idea!!
Especially when considering how dangerous freediving can be + the rate it seems to be growing + there are some things you can't learn by watching youtube videos; nothing beats first-hand experience & knowledge from a seasoned pro!
