Went to Timber Cover with N2. Water looked good from Jenner. Once we paddled out it looked even better. Little swell but not bad.

Jumped in and had a good 25' of vis. Tons of blues and blacks right off the bat. Went to shoot one and click. Whoops. Forgot to load my bands. Loaded up dropped down and shot a different one.

Moved on to a spot with better structure. Looked around for a bit and didn't see much besides massive amounts of blues and blacks everywhere. While checking a cave I look over my shoulder and a small ling is checking me out. Spooked him a bit so I tried to stay behind the rock and see if he'd come back for my shiny flopper. Sure enough he turned and came back so I popped him. As soon as I get up top and get him on my stringer I look down and see a big ling sitting on the rock bellow me I just came up over. He's looking at my smaller ling. As quick as I can I untangle the mess and reload as he's swimming right towards me. I get the last band loaded just as he's at the distance of the end of my spear and shoot him. As I'm screwing with him I look down and a chunk cab swims on top of the same rock.

Seriously? Not quick enough this time. I still haven't got the first ling completely taken care of. Did a couple of drops hoping to find him, trail of fish throughout my float line dragging along. Finally come face to face with a cab. Not sure if it was him or a different one, it is FISHY out. Destroyed him and did another drop and found another one in a hole. Add him to the fish train float line. My shooting line bungee snapped so my line wouldn't hold the spear in without me keeping tension on it. Another drop and  shoot a decent black.

N2 had somewhere to be so we headed back in. He shot a few nice blues and blacks. Didn't have the luck I did with fish lining up one after another asking to be killed. We get almost back to shore when a sleeper wave arises out of nowhere sending him over and crashing into the rocks. I was bit further out and managed to stay on. Paddled around the death trap chucked my anchor, unbuckled my weight belt and jumped in to try and go help collect his kayak and any gear floating away. He was alright and thankfully was smart enough to have all his gear tied down.

Today was great! Awesome vis, and tons of fish!

Here's the video.

I think that's the first time that's happened. I've laughed at a few videos when I saw that. How can you forget, they're flopping around in the way? Guess karma got me  :smt005

Hawkward - I liked that picture and I know the feeling you had...  :smt003

Very nice video, thank you for sharing. Does stringing the fish on your float line cause it to tangle in the kelp?

Haha that feeling was really awkward. I just kind of froze and hoped my dive buddy wasn't around to see it. Dummy.

Normally I speed string my fish, and the current or me swimming moves them all the way up to me float where there is an in line flopper on a stringer and it holds them there. The fish were coming so fast this time they didn't have time to make it. The lings death rolled and tied some knots so I just drug them around until the end of the dive. It wasn't a long one.

Makes me trigger happy
My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it
