Anyone here use rod socks to protect gear in transport? If so do you buy the ones at Retial or have you found some sort of matieral that works at Home Depot et...

Want to protect some new rods but do not really feel like dropping another fifty bucks on a handful of pre made ones if I can just grab a spool of wire sleeve at Home Depot that will suffice.

Thanks,
Phil

I bought some of the braided plastic tunes on ebay and made my own. I saved probably a dollar per sleeve... not really worth the trouble.
