Going to do a little bit of fishing tomorrow after school at noon. 8/27
It's my first time kayak fishing in the ocean. Going to take a friend. If anyone is going tomorrow would be awesome to hook up with some fellow fisherpeople. Not sure if I'm going to choose ocean cove or timber. Any advice as well post below. :D.

As you are taking a friend and I am assuming this is also his first ocean  kayak fishing experience, please make sure he has the correct safety gear like a VHF radio, compass 3+mm wetsuit, etc, and that he knows how to self-rescue. Also the wind can really howl in the afternoon, which can make getting back to the launch site a bit of a challenge. As the trip leader you are responsible for his safety

In the game of biggest fish, if you can't enjoy routinely gettin' your ass handed to you, by great fishermen, then you don't belong in the NCKA.

Forecast looks like it could start out windy tomorrow along the Sonoma coast and increase.  Along with a long period West swell.  It could be a little nasty launching with West swells, but the forecast is only 2-3ft.  It's not the best forecast for your first time, but probably doable.  You have to gauge the conditions carefully.  I'd go with OC if your dying to get out because the cove is bigger and your launch should at least be easy, and if you stick to the inside of the cove you can be protected from the wind.  If you decide to go to TC, stay clear of the left side leading to the next cove to the left.  Sneaker waves form there and you can get flipped easily.  But really make sure your prepared as Kirk said, and make sure you have all the safety gear.  Wear your PFD's, wetsuits, carry a tow rope, vhf radio and most importantly know your limits.

I'm by no means an expert but I have quite a few trips under my belt in rough conditions. if this is your first time out i highly suggest going on a nice swell condition. Get the feel for the water and just overall time on the water. Some people get seasick easy while others doesn't even know the meaning of it. and your buddy is he experience or same boat as you? while the more experience kayaker should lead the way you are still responsible for your own safety. remember safety comes first!

Shore fishing is a good choice if you go late..swell gets nasty in the afternoon.  Two week ago one of my buddy flipped on  his hobie outback at TC.. Hook up with someone familiar to the area you're going. Safety first buddy. Sept 7 we going to TC...come tag along if you're available
No ocean too deep, no tide too high, no weather too bad...Let’s go paddle around and have some fun! Fish on!
