Lake county was sunny and clear everywhere except on the water. I could hear the PBs out there, so I stuck to the shoreline while I headed for some of my favorite structures.  The sun burned away the fog just about the time I arrived at the first haunt.  Worked a jig/beaver combo (black/greenpumpkin) and nabbed my first victim of the year that ended up being the best fish of the day(forgot my scale).  Still slow but a good day.

That's how to get the year started Spidey!!  I've also been trying to jig-craw,but no interests, yet. Did you get it from deep? or shore-struct.?

Thanks for the "jig-inspiring" pics&post!

Just on the other side of the boat house off of a broken piling. Probably 6' deep.  Sprayed some "bang" on it and just let it sit a bit then shake it, then sit again. Its hard for me to fish this slow but "tis the season".

usually 3/8 , with rattles, and a big beaver trailer.  I only use scents when the presentation has to be slowed down.

I have done good on the Beaver as a trailer also.  My best luck has been a blue and black jig with a blue plastic crawfish.  They sell the rattle jigs at Wally World (aka WALMART)

big beaver tail trailer? the better to see and hear it,in the cold-merky-depths,as it falls and slaps stuff around?.....I visualize it,being one with my lure, but can't get a tap!
Terry, put me on some fish!   I see big-dark archs on the FF at 20"-30",where the instruction book said they'll be.Do you have any presentation tips for deeper water?......Do you see them deep on your FF too!
All info is "Good" info!

 Hey Adam,
Im acutally  "blind"  and not using a FF, stuck with just my instincts,  but after you guys took me to striper school at mendo, Im in the process of expanding my vision.
I just kind of guess how deep it is by how long it takes my lure to get to the bottom. Thus the tip, put "it" on the bottom in this cold water season.
The big beaver (love to say that) is kind of like the brush hog or any other creature bait that may be a crawdad or mistaken for something else, who knows, but I like em big and use them on a jig or just naked.
youre always welcome to come up here for a hunt, and this year Im planning on trying to spend every full moon night on the water that I can. ill post hook-ups.
congrats on that #1 draft pick too.

Thanks Terry! :smt012 Even though a "real" QB would be the choice! I'm sure that one of our top-secret scouts will point Al Davis to some-sort-of "hidden gem" that will be a BUST like always.

Thanks for the BIG BEAVER :smt003 tips! and the invite...cuz I'm gonna take you up on it.
