I launch at base of the wharf and park on top of the hill  in the neighborhood because it is free ,,,

I've never launched up there. I see you're standing next to the pier. Did you park there by the pier and carry it down? On a scale of 1 to 10, where is it on the pain in the ass scale? Would you recommend that as the best place to launch for Halibut? I'm trying to avoid a scouting trip up there lol

You can unload your yak & gear at the base of the pier/wharf. Then repark car in free area about 1/2 mile away or pay to park by the pier (4hrs max?). Launch on the right/north side of the pier...can be a rough launch sometimes; usually calm though. I would rank it as 9 outta 10 on the PITA scale, personally.

Yeah..  that walk to the water over sand is a pain.. I never launched there..  But I did walk the area drunk..lol.   You can launch on SC Harbor.   Last time I was there I parked on the sidewalk near aldos and walk my kayak down the ramp.. its free if there is parking..   But its a pain when I got back and other cars parked around.. also foot traffic, dogs, kids, etc..  I may just pay the 10 bucks this friday..
