Fished the barge hole today, no boats around the first few hours. Missed one salmon but landed this PB Steelhead, just short of the width of my Revo 13 so 28" - 30" range. Used a Berkley Powerbait Pogy Swimmin Shad 3", I had set the rod in the holder and getting a drink of water when he took it, hit hard and headed upstream. Tore the Pogy up.

Saw some beautiful steelhead jumping today, bigger then this fish. GoPro battery was dead, didn't get any video

Exactly what I did, noticed a very large school of minnows flashing white last week with some nice trout chasing them, was at WalMart with my wife and as usual while she was shopping I was in sporting goods, noticed how much the Pogy's looked like the minnows I saw. Just before I caught that fish had another large fish hit it three times real quick while I was floating right over the barge hole in 30 feet of water, I was thinking it was a striper since I have had them chase before but could have been another of those big steelhead.

I caught my first steelhead on a clouser while fishing for stripers.  They will bite anything it seems.

Nice new PB!!!
So long and thanks for all the fish!!!

My neighbors 8 year old caught about a 10 lb chrome salmon yesterday evening at the barge hole, nice fresh meat. Guide boat came in with me this afternoon, had two salmon around 25 lbs each, he caught them way down by Red Bluff. A few nice salmon swam underneath me today but they were headed right toward Battle Creek and were not stopping to say hello. Saturday I saw about 10 salmon carcasses at the cleaning station.

If someone knows how to catch some giant carp let me know, last two times they have been swimming all around me, see them turn and look but aren't interested in what I have been using.

Nice steelhead!  And for carp, I would use canned corn.  That stuff is like crack for them.  I know some people make their own dough balls, but corn works really well too.
