[edit] -- added 2 more pics

Crazy awesome weekend.

Raydon came up to hang with me for the weekend and we were motivated to get a couple fish.

8/22 we put in early @ Russian gulch and set out looking for good shelves and spires. Limited on Ling, got a few blacks each.

I landed my biggest ling yet.. somewhere in the low 30's. I wasn't expecting the strike to be so hard, and it actually threw me off balance and I half tipped out of my boat.
Raydon had a good laugh at my expense. Also had 2 large ling on at once at one point. Felt like I was bringing up a refrigerator. 1 was a hitchhiker though.. and let go 10 feet from the top.

We decided to turn in early... which apparently wasn't early at all. When we stood up almost 7 hours had passed.

8/23 we decided to hit the turf for huckleberries a few miles from my house. Got into the bushes and noticed the ground was holding moisture, so we decided to adventure and push into the woods and try for chanterelles.
Got lucky and scored a few of the first for this upcoming season.

That got us pretty jazzed, so we scrambled out of the forest and made a big chanterelle omelette.

We had tossed around the idea of trying for abs.. and decided to give it a go. I've never gone diving out here by my house so we didn't know what to expect..

but i'll tell you.. in and out in 25 minutes with a full limit.. not too shabby. When I put my head under for the first dive - Raydon was standing on about 4 abs. Literally.

Nice report Forager.   It was a superb weekend when everything went right.  Except for your broken mask, me  forgetting my weight belt, me  loosing five lbs of lead before I could get the belt on and my connection to my ff corroding off.    So we had to share a mask and share a weight belt.   We still got our limit, had a ball, and made good memories.  It was a new record for me in getting abs--I had to dive a maximum of  3  feet under water to get them.   :smt005
