I have to admit, I'm hooked on podcasts! I listen to them all the time now when I drive. I never realized how many there are, and, on just about any subject. What is a podcast? I get asked that all the time. A podcast is essentially an internet radio show, but you listen anytime you want.
There are lots of podcast platforms, we use Podbean, but Stitcher is another. There are many, some are free, some cost a lot.
In regards to podcasts, California is lacking in fishing, but especially kayak fishing podcasts. If anyone in the Sac area is interested in starting one, the studio I use is VERY reasonable. My weekly podcast costs twenty five bucks an episode to record the thirty minute show. Podbean is cheap to host, dont need a website, unless you have other content, like I do. You have your podbean page. Couple that with social media, and you can have a fun hobie or second income.
I cover everything outdoors,  but a dedicated subject has lots of niches. If you are interested, pm me and I can chat with you.

P.S. same for like realtors, a real estate podcast could be a 15 min weekly trend qith guests too. Other service profession I suppose. Market is wide open, I'm not charging anyone lol, it is just a huge tool, and it is fun!

I'm actually surprised no guides would do one weekly to promote their business.

Especially with all of the technology available, heck you can use apps available on certain phones to do live podcasts now.

At one time when I traveled a lot I downloaded a lot of them and listened on the road.  Not as much these days.  But if you have the desire to put one out there and it is good, someone will listen.

Not really a podcast but California Sportsman can be listened to as a podcast also the Untiment bass radio show. Bob Simms on the KFBK Outdoor show can be listened to as a podcast as well. Finally not exactly nor cal related but I enjoy the Orvis fly fishing podcast. I do not fly fish but he covers lots of different topics and much of the conversation about reading water and fish behavior crosses over. It sure beats AM/FM talk radio.

Most podcasts dont make it past 8 episodes and they quit. I got 37, so either a slow learner, or doing something right  :smt006
