Half moon bay (harbor) is  one popular launch site in the peninsula. You launch from HMB Kayak Co. Keep an eye out for hookups, but be careful of shallow reefs in that area. It can generate some gnarly waves. Just keep attending hookups. Eventually, you will know other members and they'll become your fishing buddies. That's how it starts for most of us. Next thing you know, youll be driving all the way up to Shelter Cove or down to San Diego just to fish With them.

Forget about outriggers. Unless youre bass fishing, there really is no need to stand up on your kayak. And even when im bass fishing, i dont stand up. Take your yak to Lake Merced and paddle around and get really comfortable in it. Practice self rescue while youre at it. Hope that helps.

Have you had any success in fishing in the SF bay? I live in SF too and am looking for fishing buddies - i'm looking to get the same types of fish, rockfish, lingcod, halibut, stripers, etc.
