So I think I have narrowed it down (unless you guys recommend a better FF for the price) to a lowrance elite 5 to go on new revo as soon as I pick it up. Question is what is a decent price to pay and should I get it with the navionics and transducer?  On 2015 hobie will transducer mount in supper hole? Hds model better? Other model I should look at. I only do saltwater.

Also what other accessories you guys recommend for new yak. Im getting ff install kit/turbo fins/bigger rudder / little tray in middle for tackle. Anything else I should be looking at ? Getting rocket launcher holders and gear tracks later. Don't like all the crap in back like crates and all that.

Lastly, I have a 04 subaru wrx with thule rack. Besides hullivator, what saddle style u recommend.  I like the sweet roller .

Thankd

Following this thread.

I'm looking at the exact same setup, Revo and Elite 5. It's my understanding the transducer (yes, you need it) will mount in the Lowrance-ready unit in the bottom of the kayak. Personally, I like the Navionics detail myself and I think some packages come with it for like $30 more.

HDS & CHIRP use the same transducer.  The only difference is the internal operating software that tells the transducer how to operate & how to interpret the info coming back in ... basically.

It's my understanding that the 83/200 HDI transducer fits the 2015 Hobie Lowrance mount & that some have managed to make the 50/200 HDI transducer work with some modifications.

Prices around the net & shops should be fairly close for the CHIRP units.  Only main differences in pricing will be if it is sold with or without transducer, which transducer and if you buy it as a 'Gold' package with the extra Gold map chip.

I used to have the Elite 5 on my old 2013 Revo 15 and the transducer fits perfectly in the built-in mount.

I "upgraded" to the Raymarine Dragonfly 7 because of the bigger screen and simplicity in operating it, less buttons and better readings (IMHO). I see the bait fish faster than the Elite5. A buddy of mine had the Dragonfly 7 first and we did an actual fishing side-by-side comparison while we were at TC as to which one was better in our opinion.

Boils down to personal preference. The Dragonfly 7 went on sale last year for just little more than the Elite5 HDI. My eyes aren't that good anymore so I got the bigger screen. Bad thing about the D7 is the very long transducer that you'd have to saw off the "mounts" on the mounting tray.

Check Anchor Express, they usually have good prices.

Yep, same here.  I love my Dragonfly 7.  It puts me on fish and structure and very easy to operate.  Less buttons and commands to press.  I can get over 13 hours on LiPo batteries.  Check out the other smaller models.

I have a Chirp 7 and the 83/200 TX fits just right...get the Hobie battery hanger that goes in the rear 8" hatch, it is NICE! I put a plug on the battery and it disconnects and comes right out or leave in to charge thru same plug. The TX cable is a pain per stories Ive seen on the net, that is the routing and plug behind the seat is very hard to reach.

Slight thread jack, but maybe others have the same question ...

I purchased an Elite 4 HDI w/Gold package last year. I recently upgraded to a 5 CHIRP, but held onto the Navionics Chip that came with the 4 in hopes that it would work on the 5 as well. So far, I can't get the 5 to recognize the Navionics chip and have read mixed reviews online as to whether chips are transferable. Anyone else have any insight into this ?

It "should" because I thought I have moved my gold chip from unit to unit & even loaned them out to others in the past.  Have you gone into the chart menu & switched it to the chip?

So what's the difference between 5 hdi/5x hdi/chirp/hds?
I'm lost   :smt009
Which one do most of you have/like?
Can get 5x hdi $150 no duce and 5 hdi $250 but refurbished.
Or new of course.
