Suppose I'm diving in the Salt Point SMCA, where the take of abalone and finfish is permitted, but all other sealife is protected.
I pull a legal-sized abalone only to find it has a small scallop growing on its shell. What do I do? Put back a legal-sized ab, a violation known as high-grading, or keep the ab and therefore take a protected scallop?

I would keep the ab, personally.
May the fish be mighty and the seas be meek...

Take the ab, pop off the scallop and leave there.

Pop the ab, scrub the shell clean with wire wheel and avoid stepping on kelp or sand fleas  :smt004
