A lot of salmon were caught at Barge Hole on Sac river Saturday morning, well over 100 people fishing area with guide boats and bank fisherman. I floated through but to many boats to avoid to try and fish. By noon not many fish being caught, I also fished yesterday from bank noon to 3, didn't get anything saw a few being caught by boats. Checked cleaning station this morning no carcasses. Not a lot of fish moving up river yet.

Did get to see DFW stop a guide boat, thought the guide was in trouble but they only wanted to count, weigh and measure the fish. They even had them clean the fish then weigh again. Asked us all if we had caught anything, didn't ask to see anyone's license.

Uh, yeah, every September on the Klamath. Fish that are only a couple of miles out of the ocean.
Now THAT'S where its at ! That looks awesome.

It'll be interesting to see if there's much of an in-river salmon season on the Klamath this year.  Fish monitoring by the Yurok Tribe has already detected fish infected with Ich in the river, roughly a month ahead of the first detections last year.  The river is once again terribly low and hot this year.  Could be 2002 all over again  :smt009.

All good the american will produce eventually always does. Surprisingly not much fish for august. Hopefully that means the schools will be big when they do start to move!

My neighbor caught these yesterday near Red Bluff - get on the water, some nice big fish around, they have to go through the bay, delta and Sacramento, guarantee they don't taste like mud

If they got shine, they’re fine to dine!  That’s how I roll anyway.  I enjoy river salmon fishing when it isn’t shoulder-to-shoulder, boat-to-boat stuff.  Sneaking up on a pool boiling with fish in the early morning hours, watching your slip bobber go under on the first drift…fun stuff.  BOR has been releasing water from Lewiston into the Trinity for the past week, should bring some fish up soon!  I usually catch some fish in nice condition in the Trinity starting in September.

From an AOTY perspective, the dark, tired, hook-jawed males are easy points if you're in it to win it!  :smt044

You can catch plenty of good table fare fish if you know what you are doing.
They obviously don't taste as great as ocean caught fish, but for me personally I walk 6-800 yards and catch salmon.

Just have to wait for them. They will come. Looks like a repeat of last year, fish being caught and spotted in similar conditions.
Water is just too warm at the moment.

Few yaks trolls for salmon here in Carquines Strait/Benicia. Bites still slow but Stripers start picking up.
No ocean too deep, no tide too high, no weather too bad...Let’s go paddle around and have some fun! Fish on!
