Saw this link posted on CCKF.
I appreciate this guy's enthusiasm. But there are a few things wrong with this craigslist post offering to sell kayak fishing tours. Hopefully he has the guide license and liability insurance. Because, if not, that's just asking for trouble. Especially in the litigious landscape of CA!

That kid in the first picture doesn't even look old enough to have a driver's license.  Is that the guide?

Is he the only unlicensed kayak fishing guide out there?  I remember a certain guy who is offering trips up north but isn't registered with DFW.

And I'm not talking about our NCKA registered ones either.

Tell me if you can find his license.

Dennis Spike has insurance and guide License for many years. Can you find my guide license  :smt003? You get what you pay for ….or if their ad is childish…thats what you can expect. Hope the Fresno guy does not hurt someone or make them over confident in the ocean.

Hahaha, I saw that ad a while ago but I thought is was an out of area post from the central coast. The first thing i noticed was the "I usually go out in shorts and a t-shirt" quote.  What a fucktard. I believe I have seen him OTW before and spoke to him once several years ago. If I remember correctly, he is NOT from Fresno. He is a Central Coast guy. I'm not 100% though so I am not going to throw out his name. By the way, It appears he received some pressure that caused him to remove the ad. I wish I could have booked a spot on the Mother-In-law outing before he shut it down. Hmmm....maybe we can organize our own take a mother in law and ex wife fishing day. Maybe off the coast of South Africa?

You don't have to publicly list your name or info to get a guide license. The state asks if you want your info public…. There must be 2 licensed Kyle's then. I do find it odd that you can't confirm who's a guide and I also agree to whats said about insurance. DFW does not require insurance or verify it, just a $1000 bond. I have mine and have it because I help out a few times a year and want to legally get paid for it. Im glad to see your red flags that come up with sketchy ads for kayak guided trips in the ocean. Safety first = a good time  :smt001

Right on, just giving you crap Kyle. I've got nothing but respect for ya and hope it works out. I'm always rooting for people who are so passionate about fishing that they want to share it with others.

And I agree it's weird that the Dept makes it so difficult to for citizens (potential clients) to determine if a guide's license is legit. Why even have the checkbox on the application that says ""Check here if you wish the Department to include your name, business name, business address, and business telephone number on the list of guides released to the public."" ?   Seems like that should be automatic.

What cracked me up was the mention of wearing a helmet. At least your melon will be warm and protected while your body goes into severe hypothermia :smt044

What a kook. This looks hella sketchy. Someone from NCKA should reach out to the guy to let him know he is dangerously wrong, then show him the light. Not sure that would be true NCKA style though...  :smt005
