I have posted before about northern snakeheads being caught back in Maryland. Thought I would share this from today. Joe Bruce is becoming a snakehead expert. MD DFG no longer requires that snakeheads are killed only recommend that they are harvested.

May not be to long before there are snakehead tournaments. Last week snakeheads were found in Susquehanna River which is at northern end of Chesapeake Bay. Many kayakers are now chasing them.

They are one of the best fish in the south east Asia, they are more expensive than Tilapia.

Meat tastes great. I think as good as lingcod.

They do have flaky meat like lingcod, but if I am not mistaken sweeter taste, the bones to the upper are tough though.

Crazy to think that in somewhere in the world, ppl pay a premium for tilapia?!?!  WTF  :drool2

An agency or org should place a bounty or contest on invasive species.  Like a national or regional AOTY/ AOTD for snakehead, lionfish, asian carp, etc.  You'd have Hmongs and VN coming out of the woodwork, maybe a couple good ol boys too

They are waayyyyy wilder on hook. I used to catch them back home using live (frog) bait in the evening, they are very active especially when its raining.
