Got this guy last Friday on a live Shiner.  Was on the water at 7:30 am and he hit my first bait down, good thing to, because I only had about an hour before the grand kids get fussy, although Sean was fishing right along side of me, it could of easily been him.  Went back to the two crab traps we dropped an hour before and pulled about 20 big red crabs.  Back at camp by 9:30 am with a 15# halibut and 20 red crabs, that keeps the wife happy. :smt002

I caught them on a sabiki rig off the Lawson landing pier by the pilings, I like to tip the hooks with a small piece of squid tentacle, it stays on for a very long time vs. other baits like shrimp pieces.  Or you can get them off the grass beds out in the bay off the edges, can also pick up some live jack smelt this way and chovies if they are in the bay.

A few of us are launching from nicks cove (miller boat launch) Monday. There's a hookup somewhere around here. I've had good luck catching bait just dragging a sabiki behind me as I head over to the fishing area.

I wish I could make it but Monday I'm watching the newborn while mommy works.   I need a way to put a car seat on my yak.  Lol
