I don't fish inland much but I think netting fish is extremely limited and I don't think you can use cast nets at all. I searched the regs but it didn't turn up much other than under the headings of illegal gear and dip netting.

What about giving something like this a shot?

I can't stand those cast rings. Just learn how to do it the proper way.
Well just because you don't like it, doesn't mean it doesn't work does it?  If it made it easier to throw from a sitting position, I think it could be very useful.

Nope, never said it wouldn't work. I'm sure this works too. From a sitting position as well. Doesn't mean i'm going to use it. Lol.

Well someday we may get a rare smooth ocean. Last time i Had it so smooth was a week ago the day before the chicane rime-nits hit our area. we went out at midnight and no wind all day. but that is a very rare thing here.

Yeah. Wind is definitely a problem. Even if you're sit-throwing it the wind might get in your way. I that case, I would try to use it to my advantage and cast with the wind.

I guess ultimately, it's awesome to be able to catch your bait for the day. But it's hard to weigh because what or who will guarantee us that we will find bait balls that are within reach of a cast net?
The uncertainty is the problem because it defines if one should buy bait or catch it. If I buy it and find bait balls, I waste money. If I don't buy bait and don't find bait balls then I'll probably need to call it a day.

Maybe the protocol should be: Always carry a net on you (~ +5lbs). If you find bait, catch it. If not, use lures/jigs and such.

Define fishing: "A jerk on one end of a line Waiting for a jerk on the other end"

I'd say always carry a Sabiki with you, rather than the cast net.  You always have room for a Sabiki!   :smt002
