Cast net off kayak? anyone?

Looks we started a new thing here. Thanks for the info.
As soon as I get my hands on a net I'll start practicing. 

I think u can use cast net north of pt conception and 25lb limit for smelt, chovie, and herring.

What about giving something like this a shot?

I've caught anchovies right outside of HMB harbor, but I'm doing it from the AI tramps.

I can't stand those cast rings. Just learn how to do it the proper way.

Limits? Or the use of net?  Re read the regs and it looks like there's no limit for chovie and herring. 

Only cast net off a kayak I have experience with, is hookin the damn net on my back cast, every time I try casting in front of me. Seems to be no limit on the times I do it.....

 

I have a 5 foot cast net. It came in a bucket and has been thee since I got the thing. I wasn't sure where I could use it.

Well just because you don't like it, doesn't mean it doesn't work does it?  If it made it easier to throw from a sitting position, I think it could be very useful.  However the price for it is outrageous for a piece of plastic.

Dip nets of any size and baited hoop nets not greater than 36 inches in diameter may be used to take herring, Pacific staghorn sculpin, shiner surfperch, surf smelt, topsmelt, anchovies, shrimp and squid. Hawaiian type throw nets may be used north of Point Conception to take such species.

27.60(b) There is no limit on the following species: anchovy, grunion, jacksmelt, topsmelt, Pacific butterfish (pompano), queenfish, sanddabs, skipjack, jack mackerel, Pacific mackerel, Pacific staghorn sculpin, round herring, Pacific herring, Pacific sardine, petrale sole and starry flounder.
