Wow.. didn't know people eat these things. Must try it next time.

OP - do you just rinse them and throw them in the batter when they're still alive or do you bash their heads in with a hammer before frying?  :smt003

Someone else said they have eaten them before, and it got me thinking about trying them.  Now seeing this report, I HAVE to try them  :smt044  From Andy's fryer of course!  :smt004

It's just like when you go to a Chinese restaurant and order whole fried shrimp.when you pull the head off and separate the head and eat the parts with the gills and all the good stuff inside.its like that just a little crunchier
My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.

Went out today and caught a couple of them with the gf. The eggs were so sweet and tastey. They're a small version of soft shell crab. Sooopp yummy. Deep fried with corn starch + Thai peppers.

Is it legal here to use a net like those guys were using? I was down here at the beach at night and the whole beach was alive on top of the wet sand. I could feel them under my feet as well. Had I only knew that these might be good to eat.

Any preference to size for eating ? The smaller ones seem to have softer shells. This topic has me wanting to try some. They are abundant near moss landing where I go. Would be happy to collect some if any one wanted some. If it is legal to use a throw net ? Would be a piece of cake to fill a bucket. Have seen swarms of them at my feet.
