My youngest son decided to take up yak fishing with me. We got a late start, on the lake about 9:30 am. Just a little over cast all day, and cold with a slight wind. We hit Angels Creek boat launch.  I do the usual, drift a night crawler and start tossing lures. Everything from Rooster tails to cast masters, nothing I then notice my drift pole line is caught up in the rudder of the Yak. After about 5 min of trying to get it unwrapped, I've made the decision that that rudder is coming off :angry7: I finally break down and decide to ask my son for a little help, only to see he's paddling to the other side of the cove :smt104.  I finally get it undone, and my pole goes nuts, Fish on.  It was a nice 14" Bass on my trout set up, (night crawler) too kool..

I only caught one more fish, a 13" trout. My son spent most of the day just paddling, talking and getting use to the new yak.

MERRY CHRISTMAS

that "youngest" son looks like a pretty big "kid"!

you need a longer pole, like a 9'6" ugly stick crappie rod. then you won't get hung up in that rudder
so much.

but yeah, a rudder is good for salmon trolling, but other than that, it's a big PITA!

Way to hook up. Nothing better than fishing with your kid, even if they are grown up and bigger and better than you.

It was definatly a good day, my youngest is 20, and I do have to look up, to talk to him.

The Ruder is off... I didn't notice any advantage with it anyway.

Happy New Year
