Hey all,
This is my first post on this board. Been guilty of lurking for a while, and figured it was time to come out of the closet  :smt001 Just like to introduce myself and give a little info about me. I live in Sebastopol, been fishing for almost everything for most of my life, but only been paddling after em for a couple years now. I have to say the yak has put ALOT of the fun back into fishing for me. Mostly I've used it in the ocean for the rockies, abs, and crabs. Also done some lake fishing with it, and use my Hyside inflatable on the rivers for steelies. I have a Prowler, and Quest for the ocean and lake stuff. Had a blast just outfitting the yaks. Did a lot of research via net sites like this one to get ideas. You guys have been very helpful, thank you, and hopefully when I figure out how to post some pics, I can start posting a few of my ideas to pass along. I've always said, "necessity is the mother of invention"... Anyways I'm looking forward to hooking up with some of you guys on the water. Mooch, you ARE THE KING!!! Man you get around don't you? And I thought us firemen had a lot of time to get out!... I'm always up for a midweek adventure, and squeeze in a weekend now and then. You dino hunters are NUTS!!  Think I want to give that a try too. Looks like a blast. Must be something like bull ridin eh? Anyways enuf rambling, and on with the report. I hit Sonoma for the landlock steelies right before the last rains and picked up a couple trolling plugs around the shorelines. Fished right on top. Not many fishing it, and the lake is in perfect shape still clear. Any wild mushroom hunters out there too? Shroom season is kicking into high gear too. Always up fro a foray.  Would love to go on some of your overnight campin/fishin trips for sure.

Lot of jousting but its all good spirited, you will be amazed as I still am when you  go to a tourney or large outting all the the giving, caring and food is incredible.

Welcome to the group. Mooch is the man and great to fish with but there are many others. Check out the tournament section, they are pretty entertaining especially if you have a VHF.

Welcome, Jonesy - I like seeing our general population creeping more northward.

Pics make for great posts - below the dialogue box when you're building your post go into "Additional Options" and "Browse" for your attachment.  If you have photos saved in a file say on your desktop you can browse right to the desired file and attach it - but you cannot preview it, so just be sure that you've attached what you want.  Also, it helps alot for people like me with dial-up connections if you first save your JPG in just slightly downgraded quality - that'll make it download much much faster for viewers like me.

Have fun - looking forward to reading your posts and seeing some action shots!   :smt001

Welcome aboard!!  My son and I do some Steelie fishing up at Sonoma in the winter each year (see my thumbnail pic) and look forward to doing some soon.  Gonna try to get out on the Russian here in the next few days if I can swing it and the conditions are right.

Post up whenever you plan to go, I have every other Monday off, weekends and can usually manage other weekdays off with a little notice (working for the GOV has it's advantages.... :smt003).  I just live over in Windsor, so am close by.....

Take care....

Norm

Thanks for such a warm welcome! I tend to run in spurts when it comes to postin. Get on, check stuff out and post when I can. Glad to hear there are a few "locals" Makes those spur of the moment trips easier. I tend to be a little spontanious when it comes to outings. When the window opens and there's something happening I tend to drop and run for the water. Now that the river's are going to be blown out for a few days, I'll probably sit down and get my act together with the photos and the new puter. I got a bad habbit of dropping what I gotta do, and doin what I GOTTA do, fishin!!!  :smt005 Anyways, I'm guilty of not taking photos while I'm in the field, gotta start doin that more...but like I said before. I've got what I believe to be some pretty cool ideas for outfitting your kayaks, that you may not have seen yet that I have found pretty handy. I plan on doing some photo essays on that in the future. Once I got the handle on the photos. (thanks for the photo tips boys) Tried diving for crabs a couple days ago, to no, or little avail. Got one small dungie, and one decent rock crab, that I threw back. Anyone hear have any good success with that? I'll also keep checkin in with the hookups for future ron de vues.

Hi Jonsey and Welcome aboard,

Like everyone on this board I'm a avid fisherman and outdoorsman  always looking for something new to try outdoors.

I have an intrest for wildmushroom picking but never really had the opportunity to go hunting for them.

I hope I could hookup with some of the veteran some day and learn the ropes on how to look for these eatable fungases.

again welcome.
