This 6 foot sliding door is our main use at our house. I have washed tracks, lubed with graphite, adjusted rollers but its so hard to operate.  Can anyone give me a tip about resolving this issue?
Change rollers?
Is that DIY?
Its Mercer brand.
Thanks

are the wheels clogged with hair or lint? do the wheels have a flat spot? does the screen also have the same issue? may need to look up into the wheel "pocket" to see if something is jammed in there

Being a double pane the monster is hefty. I guess I will have to lower the rollers all the way to remove and see.

Oh my goodness. Removing the door took two of us and the rollers would not rise up enough to clear the sill.[emoji27]
Pretty rusty and a couple of wheels were seized. Now out to find parts...

Is there a trick to make the very bottom of the roller when removing it?
I unscrewed the adjuster all the way but it would keep catching the lip and made it very difficult. Special tool?

I have the same situation going on right now.  I have 2 sliding glass doors upstairs on a balcony; neither will open & the ONLY want to remove them from the track is from ... you guessed it, the outside.  They are BEASTS at 8' tall & 8' wide.  They were rolling rough & now they are seized.  If I'm lucky, I can slide it open 1 more time & start the dis-assembly process this weekend sometime.  Glad to see I'm not the only one dealing with little household issues.

Good luck on finding parts.
because of the age, the rollers were actually decent quality. I would soak them in cleaning agent and then rebuild as much as possible and relube and reinstall. Hopefully that works. for the tracks I like to use a bare of soap to provide lube for the wheels. Just rub the bare of soap on the track. :smt005

Bar of Ivory soap on the rail. Slick it up and get a little more life out of it maybe

Where do you live ? I can recommend I glass shop then.the rollers are available,  mercer did go out of business last year, but another company bought them. Most glass shops can get the rollers they might be under warranty,  they had a lifetime warranty before closing. If not they should run between 10-20 $ each. When taking out or installing use a putty knife under each roller, that helps glide it over all the tracks. Another thing to look at is a stainless steel track cover, most glass shops can get that as well.

Definitely inspect the track while the door is out. I replaced  8 foot x  8 foot double pane door slider wheels last year without dealing with the track. The door works pretty well but certainly could be smoother. Getting the door out then back in is most of the battle so a bit more effort on the slide is worth the effort.
