So I broke my paddle and been putting off getting a nice one cause planning to join the Darksidea soon (hobie!) But decidedon't to go for it. Wanting to get a werner shuna hooked but not to sure on legth. I am 5'8 and paddle a T15. Anyone have first hand with this paddle and I'm thinking 230 should be good.

Thanks

werner has a fit guide on its website. should be good for you to look at, depending on your height, kayak width and paddle style.

Joey,

I got my cannon paddle from amazon for 35 bucks.   I never used an expensive paddle.  So im not really sure what I am missing..   It serves me well and have not had an issue.

You wont regret a hobie..  Its really the way to go for fishing.

Im 5-9, have a T13 but planned on getting a wider higher ride...I now have a Outback...I got a 240 so it would make up for the width and height off the water...it works well for me.

I'm about your height and paddle a Tarpon 140.
I have used both a 220 and a 230 camano from Werner, and I use the 230 almost exclusively now.

I have been using a 230 Bending Branches for years and just stepped up to a 240 Werner.  The problem I am noticing is after 230 the selection on 240's and above slims noticeably.

Actually Werner builds 250s (and 260 on some low angle paddles) on almost all their models now, its just that most retailers don't carry them in that size. I believe they can be special ordered through dealers though.

For Hobie use all one needs is something to propel the yak deep enough to engage the drive. After losing my stock Hobie paddle I ordered an inexpensive one from Amazon. However, if the paddle is the principle means of propulsion spending enough to get something light and strong is well worth the cost. I tried out a $400.00 Werner CF for a half hour and tried not to return it to my son. Huge difference, especially for all day paddling.
