Please go to a Dr....no one has xray powers, be ahead of what this might or might not be.....have peace of mind, your health is everything! !
Another thing, my stones didn't show on a regular x-ray, only a CT scan.
Uric acid stones will not appear on x-ray; calcium stones will.
I think it's the other way around Howard.  Mine were Calcium and they didn't show on the x-ray.

Mine were uric and did not show. So I ended up with the laser treatment instead of the water bath. Keep drinking the water, Bushy. :)

Some good advice here. You definitely need to go to the doctor. Severe abdominal pain can be indicative of some very serious issues.  I have had kidney stones several times and I can tell you if you aint on the ground writhing in pain and I mean totally debilitating pain, I would not immediately suspect kidney stones. Especially since you describe "abdominal" pain. I would lean more towards gall stones. My mother in law had those and she described the pain as being in her abdomen. Kidney stones feel like some one took a sledge hammer and hit you HARD on the left and/or right sides of your lower back.  Depending on location/density and size all should show up on an xray. Schedule and appt with a urologist. Ask for pain meds. I don't like to take meds but sometimes ya just gotta and they REALLY help.

I've had 'em 4 x.
The pain is in the upper portion of my lower back (if that makes any sense).
The pain will get bad enough to induce vomiting.
Dilaudid is definitely the drug of choice for this.
Pain gone like someone turned off a light switch.
Might also be your appendix....better get it looked at.

Go to a doctor. In my experience kidney stones felt like somebody had stabbed me in the lower back with a sharp knife. It came on in a span of about an hour and I was in such bad shape I couldn't even drive myself to the hospital.

Definately get it looked at. I thought I had kidney stones a few weeks ago. Lumbar pain that kinda moved up the back and under ribs, then I peed rootbeer. Thought stones for sure. Long story short, my pancreas shut down. The rootbeer pee was only once, and I still have not gotten an explanation on that, but I am glad I got it checked, we caught the pancreas problem and began treatment. In the words of Mooch "get yourself checked!"

Thanks all.  I did go to the doc this morning at 11.  My Primary Care guy fit me in.  how nice.

Anyway he thinks it could be a stone, though I did not have that kind of debilitating pain, and never in my back, only lower gut.  WE are pretty sure it's the bladder and could be a stone working out, or a polyp, or a bladder infection.

So he gave me antibiotics and I have an ultrasound scheduled for next Wednesday.

More I hear about kidney stones and how painful they are, the less I believe this is what I got.

i did have crystals in my prostate a few years a ago so I know my body will produce them.  And not visible, but testing showed blood in the urine.

And finally, it is getting better.  Not doubling over in pain tonight, much more manageable.  Planning on fishing Saturday with Joe Voss and Mike Mullen from Ventura.  Mike won the free guided trip at perch Derby, so I'm taking them out to Bean Hollow.  Heh, heh, heh.  Anyone else want to go to cabezon heaven, meet us there at 5:30am.  Safety in numbers.

I got it twice. First time, I went to emergency, they gave me some pain medicine, took cat scan and went home. They charged more than $6000.00. Lucky, I had two insurances to cover it. Second time, went to emergency again, bad luck, I paid thousands of with my own money. So I learn something, if you have it, just take some pain medicine may be pain killer if you have and a lot of water and wait for the stone to go down. It may take around 8 hours. Actually, it is not go out but it relocates at different place in the kidney and waiting to happen again. Emergency, done not thing much but charge a lot of money. Urgent care it a place to go. Well, my happened the weekend.

My experience with something that was probably a kidney stone happened about 4 years back.  Was on my commute to work driving over 17 near the summit.  My right side just above the hip started to cramp really bad enough so that I got off 17 at summit road pulled over and reeled in pain almost long enough to call 911!  At "That call or not call moment" the pain started to subside and then was gone, as quickly as it came on!  I called in sick then headed home.  Next time it happened, maybe a month later, I was at home after 11Pm watching the tube, and I recognized the symptoms retuning again! Sure enough, same area, right side of chest just above my hip, I felt a muscle there cramp up and get ROCK hard!  Was approaching my pain limit and just about to wake wife and call 911, but as before the pain started to lessen, then it was gone. (Pain lasted about a minute or 2, then subsided)
This was on a weekend and the following work day I was relieving myself and caught sight of a nugget fall into the urinal.  It was small enough that I didn't feel it pass thankfully.
Haven't had this pain since,  don't want it back either.  I drink a lot more water now than I did during that time, (Thanks to my wife)  I don't drink enough for her standards but it's still way more than I used to drink.

Bushy - try cranberry juice if a blander infection might be part of the issue. Had ex-girlfriends swear by it
