Short dive video of a Rock Fish save and mercy on a hungry Ling

So Last week on a dive I enjoyed some good clear water.  I saw what looked like a PVC pipe on the bottom.  As I dove down I saw a rock fish attached to one of multiple hooks hanging from the bar.  It was still alive so I started back to the surface to free it and a lingcod thought real hard about eating the rock fish.  So I decided if he was going to sabotage my life saving ability I was going to kill him.  It was a warped thought but he changed his mind on the way to the surface, so I let him live.  My kindness only lasted a couple hours before I shot a couple of their relatives for diner. 

So is this bar with hooks some kind of commercial contraption.  Is it pulled behind the boat or dropped over with a buoy?  I did see someone dropping buoys in rocky areas on past dives, but thought they were just crabbing in what I thought was obviously not dungeness habitat.  So if anyone knows how or why a bar of hooks is used I am just curious to understand it.

More like, catch...........still caught, how in the heck do I get off this thing to here comes some creature, why is he moving me, to oh my a big ling is trying to eat me to...........finally free.  Time to go hide in a hole for awhile.
