:smt005 Well then congratulations on the new baby blue!

jmairey, I had a test report by the local water company (if my memory serves me right) and it was a pdf file. I will try to locate that and post it here. But it might ake me some time to find it. Basically it was a report on the Guadalupe water basing and it included Lexington. I will post that when I find it.

"the kayaks are good but they blow all over the place. I was thinking that some kind of deployable drag device and fins like tubers use would give you the best of both worlds."

Have you guys tried dragging  a 2 lb lead sinker to slow down. I do that sometimes on the tube. Changing the line angle allows you to adjust for speed. The fish don't care. I think it may even attract them as they are curious creatures and want to come and find out that that thing is.

jmairey,

I posted the water report on a new thread to avoid hijacking this one any further.  :smt005

Mol -

I will have to check my photos from the summer. They may have been small LMB's :smt013 although the markings looked more like SMB.

Nice stringer Z  :smt023 I always thought that the bass were less aggressive during the winter months - thus, making slower presentations a better tactic. You proved the theory wrong  :smt002 It just goes to show - if the fish are hungry, they will do what it takes to feed no matter what the water temperature is :smt001 IMO: timing is EVERYTHING :smt002

[Sorry for the hi-jack!]
Compa is one of the nicest guys I've met through these fishing websites. We've fished together a couple times.
I've been looking for a good deal on a kayak for him lately. We'll get him on a kayak soon enough...until then, he will probably continue to outfish me in his tube or pontoon.  :smt013

Thanks for the report guys! I wanna take my dog out in the yak now!

Thanks for the kind words Sin Coast. It's frustrating to bargain hunt sometimes, lol. Every time I see something good someone else get's to it first!

J
J, I think the fins would be very stressful on the lower-back.When in the flt-tube the feet/fins are low in the water and your able to get action(thrust) on the up and down kick.I think when in the Yak your feet/fins would be higher(almost on top) in the water, resulting in minimal-one-way thrust and a helluva back ache (IMHO) but I'll try anythig once......well, not everything. :smt011

adam, could be, but they make small fins for fitness swimming. those might be enough.

I know you guys are joking...but maybe other might think its OK to spear LMB. And it is definitely illegal....unless, of course, you're in a pond in your backyard.  :smt002

That looks like a pig to paddle tho! I think a narrow kayak where you hang your legs over the side works pretty well for speed
and then being a fairly comfortable platform to fish from.
