Now I have retired, I get to really go to work!!

Going to tear down a section of ceiling on the landing and maybe stairs due to termite damage.

Tear off old sheetrock, replace what framing I might need to, and get some termite killer in there.

I can take things apart, and I can frame a bit, but sheetrock/taping is best left to those with experience.  Sometime within the next few weeks.

Also, if you've had success with termite abatement, please give me tips.  I don't want to tent the house or prison my pets, or move out for a week.  Anyone use the orange oil method? Any good?

Thanks in advance

I've used that orange oil treatment and it appeared to have worked a few years ago. I'm also still in need for some sheet rock repair to a couple of areas in my home.

Hopefully we both can find someone on here. You first of course  :smt001

Thanks Zisco and Baitman!!!

I'll get cranking on the demo and framing monday.  The family is going to high sierras for a few days.  When I open things up, I can figure out the timing for sheetrock.

These are drywood termites I believe.  They're on the 2d floor.  any one else use the orange oil methods?

I got my house treated with orange oil last year but not long enough to say if it was efficient. But I know a couple of peoples who do used them and they were pleased. They also offer warranty with free reinspection

Orange oil works, but the problem is that they only inject it to the area that you know they are in. Ive had it done twice, and I swear the day the two year warranty expires, they show up someplace else. For what I spent I could have tented and been done with it. I recently had my two story house and adjacent granny unit tented for $2300. Had to move out for only two nights. Packing the food products was a bigger PITA than I expected. I also packed up a ton more shit than I had to out of paranoia. Over all it was waaaay easy and worth the piece of mind. They also ensured me that my dog and 3 cats would be fine. So far they haven't croaked. :smt001
