Ive used this unit for several outings now. The bottom contours and vegetation it shows is top notch. BUT, I cant seem to find an adjustment to see the fish arches better, few show up. My Hbird 798 shows the arches very well. Cant figure this out. Anyone with suggestions as to what to adjust up or down to get me there?

Chirp will look different.  Less of an arch because, as I understand it, arches are actually "shadows" so the chirp images will appear more like a "dot or spot" since the processor tries to eliminate the shadows.

I've noticed my Chirp unit will show fish holding on the bottom much better than my older Elite unit.

I have seen spots, but thought it was clutter. Bait balls of sardines and mackerel in the ocean looked like large blotches made up of little dots, I will have to look into this further

I have the same issue with raymarine..  Its a guessing game.. I do see kelp and baitballs. but isolated fish is just a guess.. since it can be a fish or debris.   I use it normally to see bottom..  There are no real adjustment for the dragonfly chirp.

Bait marks are less defined and will show as the hazy dotty clouds.  I've found fish to mark in more of a squiggly line.  I try to run split screen, on color screen the gamefish will have a redder core, the bait stays the bluish purple color.

I think I mighta seen a video or read something about choosing a slower ping setting to get arches.

For kayak use you want 'Normal' or lowest ping speed.  The Ziggy line is for stuff that stays suspended below you like a lure or lead weight ...  Pretty cool to see!

Sometimes  :smt002   :smt075

Ok, so a fish CAN appear as a long, continuous line if it stays positioned.  Most of the time, you will see a "blip/spot/lump" or whatever you want to call it.  MOST of the time it won't be an arch like a standard broadband unit would show.  Is that better?  :smt001 :smt064
