Since the HAB event of 2011 and the Closure of Ft. Ross towards abalone take I  have not splashed Ft. Ross.

However I understand from some diver observations the year after the HAB die off, (2011) divers have reported an explosion small abalone. Is this remotely an diver assessment still today ?

I dove ft Ross a month ago and saw more larger abalones than small ones.

I have dove/spearfished there a couple times in the last 2 months. Seen a lot of abalone!. Not sure how it was before but definitely alot (good size) abalone there now for sure.

I dove ft Ross a month ago and saw more larger abalones than small ones.
You saw small ones. I wonder if you were to look for small ones you would see more small ones.
Do our eyes fool us some times not realizing it because as hunters we are automatically keyed to looking for big rather than small.
