its a good thing elkhornsun was banned....twice, this seems right up his alley  :smt003
Oh no you didn't .... oh YES you did!  :smt044

Couldn't resist.

And to add something of value (however little it may be).  My old Garmin had an exit button that'll take you right out of the menus or GPS scrolling and return you to live settings.  The Elite Chirp you have to navigate back out of the menus to get back to your live screens......its not very convenient when the boat is rockin and you're wearing shades.
..........agarcia is just an ex-kayaker

Thoughts on internal battery pack that can be changed out while OTW?  May not be a possability ... but a thought to toss at them?  Right now, their strategy has been a "lunchbag" looking unit that holds a battery & the unit with no way to secure it to a kayak.  Good for a john boat but not ideal for a yak.

Thoughts on built-in VHF?  Standard Horizon did this years back with their chartplotter.  Don;t think it was a huge success but thought I might toss that back at them again?  Retro is in these days  :smt002

I think that I prefere my VHF to be seperate from the FF.  Although some sort of emergency response would be good for a backup.

And here is a far out idea, someone else I think posted a while back.  A GWS detection/alarm would likely sell well with Kayakers.  :smt002

Battery life, battery life, battery life.  Their goal should be able to get 2 full days out of a 7 Ah battery, even in the large, colored screens.

A way to join up with 'Shark Shield' would be awesome but I doubt there are enough kayakers buying all the brands combined to make it happen.  I'll add it to the list never the less because no idea is a bad idea.  Great idea by the way  :smt002  I'd buy one with it!

I think that is a huge goal that will get better with time as screen technology gets better & CPU's run more efficient.  Not sure what the largest factor of battery life really is in a unit.  Screen?  Transducer?  CPU?  Other?

Thoughts on wifi to GoPro?  Again .. thinking outside of the box & NOT something that is in works or maybe even possible.  What use, function, benefit could/would this have to an angler?

I thought a bit about drone but I think we are a few years off from having that discussion as 1) Viable 2) Useful 3) Profitable for the masses 4) Useful 5) Useful 6) More than just a "toy".

I believe the technology is there, but FF manufacturers are years behind.  The problem is that they don't think like mobile device manufacturers.  Their main market has big old 12V deepcycle batteries driving their units.

I think if you look at the specs, it is screen size (and the light needed to backlight it) that is the biggest draw.

I think I agree with that statement.  Luckily for us, the world of FF hasn't kept up with the speed of cell phone technology with new units coming out every few months (or faster).  I believe their target is ~2 years for new units based on what I've seen over the past few years.  Seems to fall in-line with the frequency of our group buying new kayaks.

Wireless remote so you sort armed anglers can mount the FF at the very front of your cockpit, or even on the front deck, and have the controls you so dearly want.

I dropped that idea bomb to them ~2 years ago.  I think it's high-time it comes back to life again!  I like it! :smt007  I envision it being useful to toggle pages, mark waypoints, go into 'Standby Mode' & maybe trigger a GoPro at the very least or very most.
