congrats on the big win bro--nice meeting everyone

Lets talk about the boat ramp at Ocean Cove.  Have you seen that thing?  It's long, steep, dirt and rocks, with an S turn in the middle.  You can't see the bottom from the top unless you go around to the lookout area.  One time I was headed down and noticed 2 or 3 power boats cued up at the top waiting their turn to back down.  I felt weird about cutting so asked for the okay and got the nod to proceed.  For those Ocean Cove regulars is that the way?

Exactly! Head down quick and move to the side, out of the way, all good! There will always be some salty dudes around though.

Wow that launch sounds really annoying. Anything to lock the yaks up to down by the beach and keep them there overnight by chance? Also, sup with the campfire situation? Love me a good campfire they cool with it there? Do I need to bring an above ground firepit?

I didn't see anything to lock to. It's a pretty rocky beach and not real easy to wheel on. I don't know how high the waterline is at high tide, but I'd want to be sure before I left my kayak there. Maybe we can get a volunteer or two to taxi everyone up the ramp. There are campfire rings. I am planning a fire at the group camp. I don't know if there will be an official gathering area. I was told that the group site is a good option for the potluck because it is level and has more room. Bring some wood, I'm sure you can find a place to burn it.  :smt006

I have seen the water all the way to the cliff area. Absolutely no beach at all at that time. It was just a road that lead to and stopped in the water. Pretty fun when the waves are ripping in too! Time it right and you land high and dry on the ramp. But get out of the way fast before the next wave crashes in. Seen it like that 2 times before. Plenty of times it is flat though.

The cove at the launch can get super interesting. Got my ass handed to me once on the crab opener a few years ago. Ain't no crab there BTW. :smt044

I'll bring along two or three 6foot+ cable locks. Lock a few yaks together and they should be fine if it becomes an option. With my lumber rack, my little Toyota pick-up can usually carry 5 yaks and i don't mind to taxi but y'all have to walk. Only room for dogs and boats  :smt003

At GS9 two of us sat in the back of the pickup and held onto the front handle of our kayaks and towed them up the hill.

I could bring my microsport trailer.  It will haul 3 yaks and might still fit one in the back of the truck.

If you've got a good set of wheeleze you could also tie a short leash from the front of a yak to the back of the trailer so that's at least 2 more that could hitch a ride up.  So maybe 6 each trip.

What say you?

Looks to me as though we have some teamwork brewing here. I'm in for my part what ever it turns out to be  :smt003

It might be quicker to sit in the back and hold on to them. Also backing down the ramp with a trailer looks a bit tricky. I suppose it makes a difference if we leave our wheels on the beach or not. I can only guess at how many people will hit the beach at one time. One or two at a time, or large groups?

Or you could all stop being little bitches and hand roll your kayak down the pretty short hill like people do every day.  :smt006
