Hey everyone,

I'm curious about pricing for used Hobies. I purchased my Outback new in spring of 2013, and now I am pondering selling it to upgrade to the new model with the transducer mounting spot, comfy seat, etc... Really wish these upgrades had happened a couple years sooner.

Can anyone offer a ballpark asking price for a few-year-old Outback in good but used shape?

Thanks in advance,

~Alex

Look thru the NCKA classifieds & see what others have sold theirs for as a 'gauge' of value.  I also check out others listed on craigslist & possible eBay (rarely) to assess valuations on items.

If in doubt, just ask Sonny what he would pay for it!  :smt002 :smt005

I'd say 1200-1500 is a fair price considering the condition n usage. Hobies hold their value...

I was looking and both revo 13 and outback averaged about 1300-1400-1600.  A couple post back in classified was selling for 1800 for a demo 2015.

I just bought my used 2012 revo for 1150. Great condition with larger rudder and turbo fins..  I had to drive all the away up past chico for it though.

Seems in the warmer months all the popular brand kayaks sell for a higher price.

It all depends on the condition. If its kept clean close to mint it'll be around 1600-1800 thats on the high end of the spectrum. Also you have to consider what comes with it.is it just the regular factory stuff or are there accessory s with it.if its on the average Your looking at around 1400-1600 $.buyers vary very differently from person to person. Also depends on how quickly your trying to get rid of it
My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

Thanks, guys. $1,500 came to mind, and it sounds like that isn't unreasonable.

It's in great shape with various add-ons for FF mounting, rod holders, downrigger, etc... I'd just have to decide what stays and what goes...

Or maybe I should just ditch the idea of selling it and save for a new one. It'd be nice to have two Hobies so my GF and I don't have to take turns paddling my old Scrambler XT unless we want to...

I would say your in the ball park at $1500 with the add ons.  You can buy a new leftover 2014 Outback or Revo 13 from Sunrise Mountain Sports in Livermore for $1699 plus tax.

I just bought a 2012 Outback for $500 with the drive, paddle and wheels. To be fair it was a bro deal from my fishing buddy though. I love my raptor but a shoulder injury was going to side line me for a whole season so I'm very grateful to have the Hobie.

It'd be nice to have two Hobies ...

That's my goal. Actually, I plan to have an entire Hobie fleet, and change my handle to "Admiral NowhereMan".
Are you pondering what I’m pondering?

Alex, Since your gf likes it.. If you can swing it, why not just sell the scrambler and gift it to your gf..  Share your thoughts with her.

Because you will never know if she decides to just offer you 1500 to get you a new model.

I know my gf at the time definitely would. Now that were married.. Not a chance. :smt012

Hmm... I know I don't want to sell the Scrambler. It actually gets some good use as a "beater" for cabbing, loaning to friends, floating rivers, etc, etc...

I guess I should start saving... Now I'm saving for a down payment on a house, saving for a power boat (what?!?), and saving for another Hobie.

I think I need to win the lottery.
