Sounds like I need to stay in the 12-16ft range? And btw rob im 6'2 190...

I would say 12 minimum and longer if you can afford it. I am the same size as you and paddle a Tarpon 160 just about everywhere in ANY conditions.
If you can afford it and if you can pick it up and if you can fit it in your house!  :smt002

I was lurking around MBK and saw some used OK Malibu 2 XL's in decent condition for $400. If you want a tandem that can be paddled solo and turned into a 3-seater. Well I went to adventure after work and checked out some yaks. They had some good deals around 650 but I didnt want to get something I was just going to have to upgrade in a year. I need something with stability for rough water and plenty of storage. After sitting in several of them and checking out storage, attachments and stability I went with the wilderness systems ride 135 yhats things got some room! and my wilderness tsunami 125 will be my buddy yak. Cant wait to get this thing rigged up and take it out.stoked. thanks rob and craig for the hookup I got a steal of a deal ! And carl said your camaro is slow whats up with that?

Live your life, the way you want to be remembered. Don't have any regrets, we only get this one dance to make it count. Start at your eulogy, and work backwards.

Nice to have you aboard and entertaining thread. I have a friend whom is a welder and he told me what an Independent welder is. I said well tell me. he said just that were just like that independent and we do what we want. Than god you listened to these guys. By the way that guy kayaks as well. The one thing I was going to chime in was stat stability seems to be most important. the more you yak the more stable you will feel. So I would have told you speed and wind resistance can be very important. I have a prowler 15 and I weight 130 lbs. going against the wind for me is a pain in the ass. So now I have a Hobie out back. I started with a perception swing. I still have all three. Had I worried too much about stability, I mat not have ever bought one. I started by renting an Ocean kayak 12 footer I forgot the name. I was freaked about flipping. I am lucky I never did. in fact I haven't flipped yet in the ocean. But I'm prepared. that cheaper yak from wall mart could have also warped in the heat getting it to the water. Glad everything worked out for you. Now you need to come down to our central coast Slam down. Sorry guys I'm giving Central Coast Kayak fishing some exposure. I mention NCKA on their sight as well.
