I can believe the 60 inch length but 59kg is ~ 130lbs...  the weight has to be an error, right?

Alaska Fish & Game reports over 80 pounds (35 kg) and 60 inches (150 cm).

Let's see, the wiki reference for this weight is...

^ "Orthonopias triacis". FishBase. Ed. Ranier Froese and Daniel Pauly. February 2006 version. N.p.: FishBase, 2006.

Obviously, that's the wrong species.  But if you look up Ophiodon elongatus on the same fishbase.org website.

They do mention the 59 Kg weight and cite the IGFA.  I don't have access to IGFA records, so I can't confirm that.

The IGFA database was open to the public earlier this year and I remember that the record for European Lingcod was like 130lbs or something like that. Our lingcod do not get that big though....unfortunately.

I'm actually a bit surprised that fishbase.org would get this wrong, they are usually really good at sorting through common names.

I wonder how long the 81# Ling was...  would be great to see a picture.

Here's a pic I pulled from Coastside (I think) a few year back.  I think it was over 40# and over 45".  The gut on that thing amazes me.
