Good luck!

I heard bait fishing is what's working with trout right now.

Alex,

Try the Berkely mice tails in orange, too, for trout.

Enjoy!

Had great couple of days camping, fishing and hanging out with my 2 sons and my nephew.

Had taken my kayak as well. But decided I really needed some bonding time with the boys. So didn't even bother unloading it. Was really nice to get some connecting time with them.  :smt001

First night we were there, turned in early and left the boys to hang out at the campfire. Not  15 minutes later they are cracking up throwing stuff at a raccoon that is trying to stand its ground hissing at them while trying to raid our cooler.  :smt005 Got up quickly as to make sure they don't get close to that bad boy.

Did a small hike on the west side of the lake for a undersized smallie and striper that were released. Fished the east side of the lake that evening south of the marina for another smallie that was released.

Deer were well in range as well. :smt007

Great time !!

If your into small mouth bass. Seems like the time is now. We were targeting trout. They were hitting casted trout lures. The striper was on frozen anchovies. With the weather heating up, I am sure the cats will start purring near shore as well.
The campsites are clean and the lake is full. Can hardly wait to get back there. Luckily I have days off during the week, so there was no problem reserving a campsite during the summer break.

Hope ya have fun Alex!  Will probably be a zoo there!

Was very peaceful Al. the crowd was just starting to roll in after we had enjoyed are time spent there from wed night to Friday morning. Sometimes I don't mind the zoo though either. Can be fun if ya have some good crowds around you. But, it was especially nice to have some quiet time with the Family.

Was a little annoyed that I had told the young man at the gate that I would not  be launching my kayak while we stayed at the park after all and that I knew the procedure for inspection. Yet every time I entered the gate (same young man) kept asking me if I was launching. So each time I reminded him that I wasn't. Thursday evening we left the campground to fish by the marina. Stopped by the pay booth. Told the young man (same young man as previously)we are fishing from the bank. Was asked if we are launching the kayak. :smt009
Was he hard of hearing? Bank fishing....

So proceed to the marina store to pick up crawlers. Park and a park vehicle pulls up behind me and blocks my truck. The guys says I rushed down here because they said you needed an inspection. I think that kid at the booth was stoned. I tell him, " No" and that I  know the rules and procedures and have  been to this lake countless times. He says sorry and that somebody radioed it in. I am guessing there must be a problem with people not following inspection rules there. Ok, done with my rant !  :smt011 :smt001

For you nature lovers. Seems as though wild life enjoy enriched flour hot dog buns.  :smt003
Enjoyed this myself at 6 am while the boys were still asleep.
So close I could see the moisture on his nose.

I think that kid at the booth was stoned.

I've had this impression every time I've gone to DV this past year.  No, there was one exception, but the 4 or so other times, yeah, really, really confused folks in the hot box.
